SOLAR FLUX® moulding paste
Protects the back of weld seams
SOLAR FLUX® moulding paste protects the back of weld seams from unwanted oxidation and supports the weld pool. SOLAR FLUX® keeps oxygen away during the welding process and dissipates heat and unwanted oxides.
The forming paste serves as weld pool protection and at the same time provides pore and root protection. This protection of the back of the weld seam with moulding paste is simpler and more cost-effective than "inert gas purging" with the same quality of weld seam result. Suitable for welding low and high-alloy steel, as well as aluminium and its alloys
SOLAR FLUX® TYPE B forming paste is only to be used for ferritic and austenitic steels up to a nickel content of 25%.
Areas of application for SOLAR FLUX® forming paste / For all welding processes such as:
- Electrode welding
- Electrode welding
- TIG-TIG welding
- MIG-MAG and PULS welding
- Flux-cored wire and plasma welding
- Autogenous welding
The aim of using SOLAR FLUX® moulding paste
- Prevents oxide inclusions
- protects the back of the weld seam from oxidation
- Largely no moulding required
- supports the molten metal
- Prevents burn-through
- Eliminates porosity
Application during moulding
Before applying the moulding paste, ensure that the metal is free of dirt and grease.
Apply the forming paste to the back of the seam as a "support material". For tack welds, apply the paste between the joints to achieve even, oxide-free joints.

Preparation/mixing:
Mix approx. 0.45 kg SOLAR FLUX® powder with approx. 170-200 g (0.13-0.16 l) methyl alcohol and stir until a spreadable paste is formed. Allow the mixed moulding paste to stand for a few minutes so that the necessary chemical reaction can take place between the alcohol and the moulding powder.
SOLAR FLUX® powder can also be mixed with water in the same ratio to form a moulding paste. The drying process then takes a little longer. However, this does not represent a disadvantage in terms of effect.
